Your client's link

Each proposal goes to your client as a private link they open on their phone. They see the version you sent, and your later edits stay private until you update what they see.

You create the link from the check before sending. Your first proposal shows how. This page covers what you can do once the link exists.

Where to find the link

Open the proposal from its project. The link is near the top of the page, along with what your client has done so far.

The proposal's page: Your client's link is live, what the client has done, what they see, and the link with a Copy link button
  1. 1Whether your client has opened it, and any questions they’ve asked.
  2. 2Copy the link so you can text it.
  3. 3Link settings.

Send it to your client

By text: click Copy link and paste it into a text from your phone. Your client sees a preview with your logo and the job name. The page shows you what that preview looks like.

By email: under Email, choose who it goes To from the people on the job. Tick anyone else who should get a copy and click Send email. The email uses your logo and colors, carries your message, and has a button that opens the proposal. It is the same message your client sees on the page the link opens, so you write it once. Change… beside it edits it in both places. Under Copy your team, tick anyone at your company who should see what the client gets; the list lives under Company. The Cc box is for people on the client’s side, who join the job’s people.

See what your client has done

When your client opens the link you’ll see it on the proposal’s page under What your client has done, on Home, and in the envelope icon at the top of every screen.

  • Opened means the link was loaded. It doesn’t mean they read every page, and it also counts if they forwarded the link to someone. We don’t show where they were or what device they used.
  • Questions show up if you turned them on. Each question is tied to the line your client was reading. You’ll find them on Home under From your clients and on the proposal’s page until you mark them done. Reply however you normally would, by phone, text or email.
  • Ready to move forward means your client tapped that button on their copy. Nothing gets signed, so give them a call. The proposal’s page will offer Mark it won.

Change the proposal after sending

You can keep editing after you send. Your client won’t see your changes until you update what they see. As soon as your version and theirs are different, the editor tells you at the top.

The editor's top bar saying Your client sees an earlier version, with Update what they see
  1. 1Click to see what will change for your client.

Click Update what they see. You’ll see what your client has now next to what they’ll have after you update. It also tells you whether any prices changed.

The update dialog: what changed, before and after, with the button that updates your client's link
  1. 1Your client’s link shows the new version. Nobody is emailed.

The link stays the same, so your client doesn’t need a new one, and updating it doesn’t email anyone. If you want to tell them, use Send to… on the proposal’s page. You’ll also find Update what they see there, under What they see.

What they see: You've made changes since Sep 29. Your client still sees the version from then. Update what they see.
  1. 1The same button as in the editor.

Extend, turn off or delete the link

Click ⋯ next to Your client’s link is live to change the link’s settings.

The link's menu: Edit link, Client's PDF, Turn off link, Delete link
  1. 1Stop the link now. You can turn it back on later.
  2. 2Turn it off for good.
  • Edit link… lets you turn the link on or off, change your message (on the page and in any email you send after), the expiry date, and whether they can ask questions. It doesn’t change the proposal.
  • Client’s PDF opens the PDF your client can download.
  • Turn off link stops the link right away. Your client sees a page with your logo saying the link isn’t available right now. The expiry date stays as it was. To turn it back on, click Turn it back on on the proposal’s page, or Turn on linkin this menu. Sending the proposal again also turns it back on.
  • Delete link turns the link off for good, and asks you to confirm first. Anyone who has the link can no longer open it. If you send the proposal again, it gets a new link.
